A story of a boy and his (ba)nana.

"Wow," they say. "Such a big boy."

Which makes me laugh, because I'm sorry, it's increasingly clear that Charlie got the height of the Watts family -- the stocky limbs and the muscular calves -- and that he is our solid-but-pint-sized 17th-percentile-for-weight scrapper.

Which brings me to his big boy brilliance, because if I can't brag about his future as a Michigan football player, you better damn well believe I am going to brag about his fated PhD in...Banana-ology.

What is that, you say?

The boy's vocabulary has increased exponentially in the last week, it like, he has opinions and free will...?
He talks SO MUCH, saying "Hi" to everyone.
I mean everyone.
And while he looks like such a "big boy..." "They" ask him questions (that he clearly can't answer) but he cheerfully changes the subject.
"(Ba)nana!, Ellie!, Tree!, Ball!, Dada"

Because he is such a "big boy."

How do I know? Because every morning when I walk into his room and he says "mama" and snuggles into my shoulder giving me a big hug, I tell him...you're becoming such a "big boy."
And then we walk into the kitchen, where he repeats "nana" (like, I didn't hear him the first time?) until he gets a banana.

*P.S. While his verbal skills are highly advanced, he still has yet to sign "please" or "thank you," Which I have been consistently working on with him since he was FIVE MONTHS OLD!
You win some, you lose some.

P.P.S. Happy Birthday Jenni!
We love you and miss you tons!
