Nick's 3rd Annual Boys Backpacking Trip

Nick and the boys of the Bierman/Watts family set out on their annual backpacking trip in September. It was Matt's turn to plan and execute the hike this year and there was a lot of speculation as to whether a backpacking trip in Indiana could live up to those of years past in the wild, wild west. It sounds like the 35 mile trek along Knobstone Trail in Southern Indiana was tough enough, even for this group of experienced hikers.

Indiana had a rough weather year. It hadn't had rain in months and with a crazy tornado destroying parts of the trail, the boys definitely had their work cut out for them. The weather was exceptionally humid for September and although Matt had hiked in water earlier in the week, they were still either carrying  it or needing it. Alcohol, on the other hand, never seemed to be in shortage...

Because it is a "boys trip," I'm not privy to many of the stories, but it sounds like they had a blast. I'm starting to think that location doesn't really matter, these guys have a good time no matter where they are!
Next year, planned by Jake...HAWAII!
My dad and Uncle Rick met the boys at the end of the hike with beer on ice! I'm sure the sight of the motor home after four days of soaking in their own sweat, was a wonderful sight.
