Par-Tay & Pinecrest

We had a pretty rowdy weekend, as far as weekends go around here.
Mack turned one, two weeks ago. I know...old news. BUT we had this cool thing happen in November of last year and that's called a Waelty Baby BOOM! During that BOOM, three Waelty boys were born: Mack, Jonah and Emmett. And we spent Saturday celebrating the three of them.
Mack was thrilled. And when I say thrilled, I'm lying. He's my introvert. And when I say introvert, I'm...not...lying. The boy likes people from afar. He'll wave to the geriatrics at the grocery, but he's not really interested in getting to know you. All that being said, he didn't really love his birthday party.
I'm actually pretty convinced that Emmett was the only birthday boy having a good time.
See evidence below...
He didn't even really like his cake. Or maybe he liked the cake, he just didn't like everyone staring at him.
I get it, Mack, I get it.
Regardless of the mood that this boy was in, we were grateful for all the friends and family that came out to celebrate these boys turning one. We definitely had a good time, that's all that matters, right?

Today, we decided to play hooky at church. What?
I know, I told you... It.was.rowdy!
Well, we wanted the the crabby birthday boy to get in a good morning nap, so we could head up the hill and pretend we are that "adventurous" family that doesn't obsess over "schedules" and "naps." Totally us, right? We went up to Pinecrest and because the snow is on its way, the lake is almost completely empty. It was so cool being in an empty lake, the tree stump and rocks, oh my! It was so weirdly beautiful. It was also a three year old's dream landscape...little boy's heaven!
We ate a picnic lunch and hiked about a mile out to the "biggest rock ever!" Mack screeched in my ear. Charlie and Nick played hide n' seek and walked really sl-ow.
We all had a really good time. Nick and I both agreed that it was definitely worth the whole skipping naps thing, to hang out with the boys in the great outdoors.
Okay, off I scamper...8:30 is way too late for this "adventurous" soul.
