Meet Our Ladies

We finally got our hens on Sunday! Nick finished the coop last month, but we were trying to wait out the winter (ish) weather before moving them into their new digs.
Meet Henny and Penny.
And Bertie.
Henny and Penny are a team, hence the rhyming names. Bertie, she's a major B...she "rules the roost." She pecks at the other girls and stays in the roost/on the perch most of the day.

Our hens are Rhode Island Reds, they're about 5 months old and they should start laying eggs any day now. Currently, we have to leave them in their coop for about a week, so they can "imprint" it as their home. Eventually, we'll let them free range our yard at dusk.
The boys are definitely excited. We go visit them several times a day, taking them table scraps and smiles and sticks (they're going to hate Mack).
