When out west...

When we--meaning mostly I, because half of "we" is already from the west--have visitors, the appeal of California is not Sonora. So often, we travel to the coast to visit visitors. Get it? And we don't mind because we like the coast more than we like Sonora, but here we are...eight years after I made an exit plan. A five year exit plan, at that. But life...

But we love west coast visitors! And we were lucky enough to have Dana and Jeff out on a romantic Napa trip last month, to invite us out for the day.
An excuse to drink wine all day!
With cool people!
And no kids allowed!
Yes, please!

We started our day off with donuts. Homemade donuts from the Boon Fly Cafe, to be exact. If you are ever visiting Napa, I would consider this a "must eat" breakfast place. Even if you haven't eaten a donut since your preteen years, when calories didn't count, I would suggest making an exception just this one time.
We started our wine drinking day at 10:30am sharp in the Jarvis Estate, per Dana's suggestion. The entire place is built into a mountain, the wine caves where beautifully crafted, as was the wine. It was a great, low key start to our day.
We had lunch at the Oakville Grocery. This was another great suggestion by Dana (she is a Napa veteran). They had a great selection of wines and a gourmet deli full of lunch options.

We then spent our afternoon a Frog's Leap Winery, where we did the garden tasting. We just hung out and caught up on life. It was a super chill afternoon and a fun way to catch up. I was also a big fan of their sauvignon blanc!
We ended our amazing day at Farmstead restaurant in St. Helena. It was this beautiful farm to table restaurant, they offered all the freshest and local food choices. We would definitely frequent a restaurant like this, if it was local.
This was such a fun day and so great catching up with old friends!
