Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh yeah!

Charlie has been loving on animals these days and because the closest thing we have to a zoo in Sonora is cows, we made the trip to the Oakland Zoo over the weekend (we did this zoo a few months ago).
Why Oakland, you ask?
That is a good question, because when I think of Oakland, I think of riots and trashy/crazed Raiders fans...
But per the recommendation of, oh I don't know, everyone, the zoo in Oakland was better then San Francisco. Even Outside Magazine voted Oakland, California one of the twenty best places to live and I'm glad I kept my ignorance in check because driving into the city was pretty remarkable, the Oakland hills are astounding and the park system is supposed to be the best in the country (boasting over 1.7 million trees).
So yeah, the zoo was great, perfect for Charlie and all six adults in our party. The ratio was perfect, 6:1 allowing us to keep tabs on the boy the entire time, but I do now understand why parents put their kids on leashes...
Regardless, we had the chance to see all the big animals including the tigers, chimps, giraffes and elephants and we all left pretty tired and ready to enjoy the rest of the afternoon doing fun activities that didn't involve kids.

Oh, and Jessica pointed out that there are worse things than strep butt...

One of my favorite posts thus far! Though that fault picture doesn't do much for my thunder thighs!
