Baby's First Half-Marathon

We made our final trip to Indianapolis with a lap child last week, to visit with family and kick off the month of May! May is pretty exciting in the city with everything leading up to the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing." But my favorite event has always been the Indianapolis 500 Mini-Marathon, 13.1 miles with 35,000+ of your closest friends. It is a pretty amazing race experience, with a band/entertainment on every corner and 2.5 miles around the track, it is a really fun way to see the city. I was really excited to share this race with Nick when we signed up back in December, but Baby decided to join us in February, and he/she was lucky enough to get to run too!

The weather was a little warmer than desired, 80+ degrees with gobs of humidity. I decided to just run an easy race and have fun, which I did, only experiencing a little discomfort when the bump was bouncing around. I encouraged Nick to do the same, having never experienced humidity on a race day.  He still ran really fast, just a few minutes off his best time at that distance! Jenni and Matt also ran, making the event a fun family affair.
