We had a wonderful little camping trip planned for September (with the Sealock's!) to Cherry Lake. Well, Cherry is, ummm, fried? Blackened? Burnt? Smokey? Possibly, inaccessible...
Any who...we switched the location to an KOA north of Santa Cruz called Costanoa. As I was driving in, on first glance, it was beautiful, just steps from the beach, a lodge, playground(ish), heated bathrooms, saunas, lawn games, swarmed with toddler friends...
And then I stepped out of the car, and it was F-ing freezing. Like, so F-ing freezing, my brain is actually frozen on that fact and it's my only viable memory. I was just cold the entire time.
Is it just me and my mid-western roots, or are beaches supposed to be warm and sunny? Florida was our winter refuge growing up, so I don't really understand how a beach in SEPTEMBER! When it's 100 flipping degrees an hour away! Is SO freaking COLD!
I complained the whole time, decided I didn't really like camping and made the executive decision for the whole Waelty family that we are not going to camping again until my boys can wipe their own asses.
