May Days

May is our crazy month. I'm sure everyone has months like these, lots of birthdays and small events that make your earth seem like its constantly in motion--or is it...
It has been busy, so here's a little catch-up.

Nick ran a 30 Kilometer trail run in the Armstrong Redwoods outside of the Santa Rosa. It was a rough day and he doesn't like to talk about BUT we are really proud of him and hope he signs up again next year to redeem himself. And the view was pretty spectacular...
Our friend, Holly, hosted a beer vs. wine dinner that same night and it was a really beautiful thing. She planned a gorgeous party, all in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Four tasty courses, each paired with a beer and wine. It was fabulous company, great backyard set-up and such a great time.
Mother's Day was nice and easy.  Nick treated me special, we had a picnic, went swimming and the boys were border-line obedient.
Our chickens are laying really well right now--we've even had a handful of double yolks. We spend most of our afternoons hanging out with them or in our garden.
Nick and I celebrated five married years on Friday. Whoop. Whoop.
We spent the evening in Murphys. It was an awesome evening, accentuated with bikers celebrating life/frog jump through way of scary burnouts down Main St. Very reminiscent of the actual day.
Five years ago: young and the livin' was easy.
Today: A little more grey, a lot more tired, but handsome as ever!

We have kept with the traditional wedding gifts by year. The fifth anniversary is wood. After hemming and hawing, and scouring Etsy, we decided to be practical and buy a joint "wood" gift. We went with finishing the fence that went up (haphazardly)around our garden. It still isn't quite finished yet and I didn't really do any of it, so it is hard to take any credit, but alas, I will.

Love you, Nick and Happy Anniversary!
